Charlie is Bored

1 Mar

“There’s nothing to do.” said Charlie. “I’m so bored.”

“Did you finish your homework?” said his Mother.

“I don’t have any homework.” replied Charlie. “Dotty is in school. She gets homework. I’m only 5.”

“Are you sure?” said Charlie’s Mother. “I thought Dotty was only 5 and you were in school.”

Charlie’s Mother had two children so she often lost track of who was who and what was what. That’s the problem with having more than one child.

“Auuggghhh!” replied Charlie. “I don’t go to school. And I’m bored.”

Charlie’s Mother wasn’t listening anymore. She was busy searching through photo albums and looking for birth certificates.

“Can I go outside?” said Charlie. “Maybe there’s something to do outside.”

“No Charlie. It will be dark soon.” said his Mother.

“It’s 9am.” replied Charlie.

“Are you sure?” said Charlie’s Mother. “I thought it was 9pm.”

“Auuggghhh!” said Charlie. “I knew we should have bought a digital clock with am and pm markers. It’s 9am. We just got up an hour ago.”

But Charlie’s Mother wasn’t listening. She was staring at the clock trying to figure out what time it really was.

And just as Charlie was about to say something his Mother ran into the kitchen.
The coffee pot had finally finished making coffee.

“Mom” said Charlie. I’m bored.”

But Charlie’s Mother wasn’t listening. She was drinking her coffee at a furious pace.

“Charlie” said Mother putting down her cup. “Get ready. We’re going out. I have to get to the store before your sister gets home from school. Go, go, go..”

Do you ever wonder how people survived before coffee?

Looks like some women just don’t know where they are until they have their first cup of coffee :)

I know. Glad that problem doesn’t happen to us men..

I think Charlie should be going to school. He has a remarkable vocabularly for a child who is at the very most 4 years old. And can tell time well. He obviously has a very high IQ and the oblivious parent is just going to let that waste away. I’m crying a little for all the Charlies — just a little though

I found him somewhat annoying. Most smart children are often that way..

I didn’t include this in the story but his Mother stopped at a clinic on the way to the Store and found that she had suffered a mild stroke which partially accounted for her lack of concentration.

She is currently receiving care and is expected to make a somewhat remarkable recovery in a future story..
