Daphne Duck Survives the Winter

16 Feb

Daphne wondered why she had slept so late. She knew the ducks were flying south for the winter in November.

But now here it was February and she had just woke up.

“What the quack!” she yelled. “Where’s my flocking quack?”
Daphne often mixed up her quacks and words when she was upset.

Of course the flock was gone. …continue reading…

Update on Posting Video

16 Feb

I’m becoming much more comfortable doing video posts. And they are having a positive benefit in my personal life. I’m more outgoing as a result.

The reason I’m telling you this is because I did posts here and here about what it felt like doing the first video post on this site. It was scary and nerve wracking.

There are now 5 videos on this site. They aren’t getting a lot of views but I’m not concerned about that. Probably most videos don’t get a lot of views. Most of them, like mine are probably not particularly good. ( I did get a friend request on YouTube today from someone who posts on there and it wasn’t porn, ha,ha)

But, Jordan Cooper does good videos. Not professional in terms of his sets, lighting or whatever else is supposed to be in a high quality video. But good content presented in a good way.
And Gary Vaynerchuk does good videos without having great quality. Once again the message makes the video not the other way around.

The whole point is that doing videos is what you make of them.
If the message is good then people will view them whether they are high quality or not.

And if your new to this form of media the message and quality don’t really matter all that much when you start out.

The most important part for anyone who thinks they would like to try video posts is to just do them. Get comfortable with them and then work on making them more polished later on.

For anyone who hasn’t tried them you will get more comfortable with them. I have and I am really quite a shy and private person.

I plan to do more video posts and more podcasts. The benefits for me on a personal level outweigh the annoyance it may cause visitors to my site for the time being.

Editor’s note: Once again I am not suggesting that everyone should do video or audio posts. That is a matter of personal choice.
But if you are thinking of doing either then just do it. It really isn’t all that scary.

The Third Tribe vs Coffee

16 Feb

This video is in response to Jordan Cooper’s recent post regarding the price point established for the Third Tribe forum.

In his video he asks if the $47/month cost of joining the forum is worth the investment.

I am not a member of the forum and don’t intend to join.
But, I’m not against this forum or any other paid forum either. Value is what you get from it.

I do drink coffee though. And I spend an equivalent amount of money each month on coffee from my vendor of choice.

So, the video is a comparison of the pros and cons of my coffee purchases vs the pros and cons of joining the Third Tribe.

If you are trying to make money from blogging your input in the debate would be appreciated.
If you like coffee your input is appreciated as well.

And if you don’t want to make money and don’t like coffee then let me know why in the comments as well.

Editors note: The original video was just over 9 minutes long and included cheerleaders and a great band but on my computer it hung up so I have replaced it with a shortened version. Hope you aren’t disappointed..

Success Requires Support

15 Feb

When Grizella was younger she used to go to the brook every morning and look at her reflection in the water.

She liked what she saw of course. Being young and somewhat naive she thought she was beautiful. And she lived in the country away from other children so she only had herself to compare her own appearance to.

Her parents Lumpy and Dumpy had only one child and to them she was the most beautiful thing either of them had ever seen. But they had also lived in the country most of their lives and had seen few children in the past seventeen years since Grizella had been born.

Grizella was a very smart child. She was home schooled of course. And she always got straight A+’s in all her subjects.

She was the best person on her soccer team. The best on her basketball team. The best skater. The best dancer.

Being home schooled has advantages that way. Although winning trophies for sports where you are the only participant seems suspect.

When Grizella turned eighteen she decided to move out of home and attend University.

Her parents were sad to see her leave but were extremely proud of her. After all she had taken the lead in her home school play and was the school president, home coming queen and graduation valedictorian.

With Grizella’s background one would assume that she would likely run into problems in University.

After all, she never had spent time with people her own age. And the large city where the University was located was far from her home in the country.

But as it turned out Grizella actually was attractive. And smart and athletic.
She was popular with everyone she met. She continued to excel.

When she was graduating she was asked to speak to her fellow graduates. The topic was to be her choice.

Grizella spoke about the importance of confidence in oneself. And of the need to develop a group of people who support you and nourish that confidence.

For Grizella the support came from her parents.

Was Grizella really the prettiest girl. Probably not.
Was she really the smartest. Or best at athletics. Probably not.

But she had something everyone who aspires to greatness needs.
She had her people who believed in her. Who supported and nourished her growth.

The Curse of the Ring-Conclusion

14 Feb

Chapter 83
So, in the end it hadn’t been Mr. Pepper who had stolen the ring after all.

It was his brother Mr. Pepper.

Mary chuckled to herself at her mistake.

“I bet Mr. Pepper is mad at me for all the trouble my mistake caused him. I should apologize to him when they release him from the Federal Penitentiary on Friday.”

But then she realized that she still had 8 years left on the restraining order she had placed against him.

And having that removed would require her to go back to court.

“No more court” she said to herself. “15 years of court cases and all those parole hearings I had to attend to stop him from being released. I’m done with court.”

“Perhaps I’ll just buy myself some handguns and a rifle instead. Better safe than sorry.”

And grabbing her coat from the hook at the front door off she skipped to the gun shop…

Timmy and the Missing Tooth

14 Feb

Chapter 1
Timmy pushed the tooth with his tongue and it moved. He pushed with his tongue again and out it popped. After bouncing on the floor a few times it ended up in the dog’s water dish.

“What to do? What to do? Timmy screamed in his head.

“I must find my Mommy. She will know what to do” he decided to himself.

But where was his Mommy?

Timmy scanned the kitchen to see if she was there. But he didn’t see her.

After about an hour of scanning he noticed she was sitting at the table.

“Mommy my tooth fell out.” said Timmy.

“It’s a baby tooth.” replied his Mommy looking up from her crossword puzzle.
“Baby teeth have to fall out to make room for your adult teeth.”

“Oh” said Timmy. “Well that explains it then.”

“Keep the tooth and put it under your pillow tonight” said his Mommy. “The Tooth Fairy will come and give you money for it”

Just then the family dog came into the kitchen and headed for his water dish.

“Noooooo” screamed Timmy.
